Key responsibilities include:

  • Reading and interpreting design sketches to understand the product requirements
  • Creating initial patterns using by hand
  • Conducting fittings and adjustments on prototypes of their designs
  • Working closely with designers and tailors to understand the design concept
  • Making adjustments to the size and style of the pattern based on feedback
  • Grading patterns into different sizes while maintaining the original design proportions
  • Maintaining accurate records of each pattern for future use
  • Ensuring that the final pattern is practical and can be used to produce the design efficiently
